Driving Directions to Wabun
Direction to North Bay from Toronto: This is about 300 miles – roughly 6 hours. Follow Highway 400 north to Highway 11 north. Approximately 225 miles later, pass through the city of North Bay.
Directions to North Bay from Ottawa/New England/New York: This is about 250 miles – roughly 5 hours. Follow Highway 417 west to highway 17 west. Approximately 225 miles later, pass through the city of North Bay.
Directions from North Bay to Wabun: Highways 17 and 11 merge for a short time in North Bay. Take care at the intersection where Highway 17 continues straight and Highway 11 turns right, and turn right (north) on Highway 11 for approximately 60 miles. As landmarks, notice Angus Lake Lodge and Gramp’s Place. These are approximately 5 miles before the Lake Temagami Access Road. The Lake Temagami Access Road, marked by a highway sign, will be on the left. If you reach the town of Temagami, you have gone too far and will have to backtrack about three miles to the Lake Temagami Access Road. Follow this gravel road (keep bearing to the left when there is choice) for about 12 miles to the Mine Landing at the end of the road. The Mine Landing, which can be identified by the recycling bins and a dumpster, has free parking and there is a telephone available. If this lot is full, try the Manitou Landing lot. Be sure to tell your water taxi or Wabun boat driver whether you are at the Mine Landing or the Manitou Landing. If you need water taxi service, you may prefer to turn at the sign for Boat Line Bay (BLB) Marine about a mile before the end of the road. There is a fee for parking at BLB.
